The front features a beautifully detailed raised portrait of the Kamakura Daibutsu, recognizable by his serene downcast expression, distinctive curled hair, elongated ears and urna at the forehead.
The reverse is equally interesting, with raised Japanese characters and decorative imagery relating to Kamakura. The inscription incorporates 鎌倉大佛 / 鎌倉大仏, meaning “Great Buddha of Kamakura.” The reverse is also marked SILVER.
